Karbakeli Eco Trek

Karbakeli eco trek, explored in April 2018 and opened for Nepalese tourism market from 18thof May, 2018, is one of the freshly discovered Annapurna trekking trails which is close to the famous viewpoint, Poon hill. The trekking was initiated by Karbakeli Conservation Committee with a concept of co-operation.

Karbakeli links Poon hill with Beni Bazaar (market), headquarter of the Myagdi District. Main attraction is the Karbakeli Thaan (Temple) of Karbakeli baba (God of indigenous community, Pun Magar). Magar community pray and show respect to Karbakeli Baba, as chief God in the earth and the temple of Karbakeli Baba is located in Kaphal Danda at Annapurna Municipality Ward no. 8 and this Kaphal danda is also known as “Ramchan Kulchan Danda”. The temple is situated at an altitude of 2,332 meter.  The statue of Karbakeli Baba is Golden coloured and the Thaan (temple) is surrounded by prayer flags which makes the temple area a peculiar one.

Though the area is dominated by Magar culture, however; there are Tamang, Thakali, Damai and other ethnic communities as well and live peace, co-operation and harmony spreading peace and happiness to the mankind. One can explore the culture, custom, lifestyle and the traditions of magar community which they have kept alive. Spectacular view of South Annapurna (7219 m), Dhaulagiri (8167 m), Nilgiri(7061 m), Tukuche Peak (6920 m) and others can be viewed while you walk through the rhododendron (national flower of Nepal) forest. The nexus of biological diversity, flora and fauna, art and culture and rural lifestyle makes this trek a special one. Local people of the area have established a tourism management committee to support, guide, develop and promote the tourism. Thus, one can certainly have a different experience of trekking for their lifetime.

Everest Gokyo Trek

Gokyo is situated in the valley of the Khumbu region. Gokyo village is one of the Himalayas’ silent treasures. Gokyo trek includes Gokyo Lake and Gokyo Ri trek which are the two most popular treks in the Everest region after Everest Base Camp Trek.

From Gokyo Ri, one can enjoy the spectacular view of Mt. Everest (8,848m), Mt. Makalu (8,463m), Mt. Lhotse (8,201m) and Mt. Cho Oyo (8,201m). Ngozumpa Glaciers, Gokyo valley, monasteries, remote settlement are the other major attractions in connection to this trek.

The trailhead is Lukla for this trip. The trek lies within the Sagarmatha National Park.

Gokyo Ri is at the same altitude as Everest Base Camp and is a perfect alternative to the popular Everest base Camp Trek. However, there are trekkers who want to combine these two. Gokyo lake is also known for six glacial-fed lake.

Where is Gokyo?

It lies in the area of Sagarmatha National Park. Gokyo lake is situated at an altitude of 4700 to 5000 meter above the sea level.

What to pack for Gokyo Lakes Trek?

As you are trekking on the high altitude, carry necessary items only as it becomes difficult to carry heavy weight. You can carry items like warm jacket, waterproof jacket, sweater, hiking shirts, hiking pants, non-hiking shirts, Long-sleeve shirt, non-hiking pants, shorts, warm socks, warm hat, sun hat, underwear, Gloves, Towel, hiking shoes, sandals, sunglasses, water bottle, headlamp, sunscreen, Lip guard, personal medications items, sleeping bag, trekking poles.

Where to stay during Gokyo valley trek?

During the trek, we stay at tea houses. There are good hotels in Lukla and Namche Bazar, but after that there are average standard tea houses throughout the trekking route. The room has twin-sharing bed with Mountain View. It is advisable to take good quality of sleeping bag that keeps you warm even in -15 ºc.

What to eat during Gokyo Lake Trek?

In breakfast, toast bread with jam and honey, French toast, cheese toast, jam toast, toast bread with eggs and cheese, plain toast and egg items are available. Likewise, Tibetan bread, pancake, chocolate pancake, lemon pancake, cinnamon pancake, chapatti with honey, porridge etc. are available. For lunch and dinner, rice and curry, noodles, momos, soup and Tibetan-style bread are offered. Featuring on menus. A basic food in the Khumbu region is potatoes. As you ascend higher, lower will be the choice and the freshness but higher will be the cost.

How difficult is to trek Gokyo Lake Trek?

Gokyo lies on the Everest region and has an elevation of around 4790 m. GokyoRi has an altitude of around 5360 m and is the highest hill in the world. Trekkers need to walk on the off-beaten paths that goes up and down whereby the ground is rough, rocky can be snowy and icy as well. Although the trek doesn’t require technical climbing, ropes and ice picks, however walking for long hours on the route may require a good stamina of your body. Thus, all this considerations make the Gokyo trek, a moderately difficult one.

Is it safe to trek Gokyo Lake?

If you have maintained certain level of fitness and body has stamina of walking constantly, all walks of life, ages can trek for the Gokyo. Make sure you go slower and have acclimatization day in your itinerary. Normal health and experienced guide will the trek safe and sound.

How many hours do we hike each day?

You need to walk for six to eight hours each day.

Is porter required for the trek?

To make the trek easy and convenient, it is better to take porter. However, if you are strong enough to carry your stuffs with you, porter is not a compulsion.

Is there ATM on the way to Gokyo trek?

There is only one in Lukla and Namche but not sure about the reliability of their service. It is better to carry sufficient cash from Kathmandu.

Is there access to the internet on the way to Gokyo?

In some places like Lukla and Namche there are but as you go to upper part, the network is weak and is less accessible to the service. Some tea house may have wi-fi but it is common to ask for extra charge for using the service or charging the batteries.

Visitors spend several days to complete the Everest trial however, all of them may not have enough time and effort to make a base camp trip, we recommend them to make this cultural trial in 09 days at lower elevation.

This trek boasts of the most exotic sceneries, a blend of sherpa and Rai culture (Sherpa is one of the rich ethnical group inhabit in this region where you can explore their culture, tradition, living style etc.) as we experience the tradition of Sherpa people in their homeland, visiting major monasteries of the region.

Gokyo Renjo La Pass Trekking

Gokyo Renjo La Pass Trekking is one of the famous trekking trail in Everest region.

Panchase Trek

The Panchase trek is one of the beautiful trial through which you can explore spectacular views of Annapurna I,II, III and IV, Lamjung Himal, Dhaulagiri and Manaslu. There are different ethnic groups along the trial, but the predominant people in this region is Gurung, Magar and Kshetri people living together with them and Gurungs are famous for British Gorkha Army, generally known as Gurkhas.

The trek goes from Pokhara to Bhumdi and Pumdi and then through Shanti Stupa (Peace Pagoda) and descends down to lake. Through the trial you will have ample opportunities to have photographs and interaction with local people. Most of the people from this area can speak English so then you can communicate with them easily and share your custom and tradition.

For several days you will hike along the off the main tourist trial to Panchase and then hike towards Panchase Hill (2030) from where you can have a spectacular views of the western himalaya.

The easiest way to reach Panchase is from the village of Badauri, which can be accessed from Naudanda on the way to Nayapul.

Annapurna Siklis Trekking

The Annapurna Siklis Trekking is off the beaten trek that unfolds the natural beauty of Nepal. The traditional villages, terraced fields, rhododendron forests, high alpine meadows nestled below the towering Himalaya of Annapurna II and IV are some of the key attractions of this trek.

The trial you go through the region which is inhabited by the Gurung community  is one of the ethinical group, reach in their cultures and tradition. The destination point reveals spectacular views of the 6900m peak Machhapuchhre.

The Siklis village lies above the Mardi Khola (1981m), overlooking Annapurna IV to the north and Annapurna II and Lamjung Himal to the east. The region is particularly famous for bird watching as of its pristine forests surrounding where different species birds thrive.

Ghorepani Poon hill Trek

Most of the trek that you can make for one week to four weeks, however, the person who have short time or thinking to make short trek then Ghorepani Poon hill Trek is one of the famous trail for magnificient and superb Himalayan views.

One can have a cultural activities along with mountain sceneries and blossom flowers (Rhododendron) in the jungle. Poon Hill Trek has long been a major trade and trekking route, so there are nice facilities for trekkers, many of these are surprisingly well equipped.

Note: Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek goes as short as 3 days and as long as 7 days and new itinerary can be designed if you have particular interest.
