Itinerary in Details

Trek around Langtang valley towards north from Kathmandu is not famous as much as Annapurna and Everest region due to lack of 8000m

mountain. However, this trek does contain its own rewards and is convenient for travelers on their way to Kathmandu or Tibet. From Syabru,

there is the more difficult option of continuing further east to Langtang Village and Kyanchin Ghyang, then trekking south across the

Gyanja-La pass(5122m) to Tarke Ghayang before joining the trek back to Kathmandu. This trial heads from

Kathmandu-Dhunche-Gosainkunda-Ghopte-Pati Bhanjyang and all the way to Kathmandu through less touristic path.

Altitude  4610m

Access- Accessible by road

Grade- Normal  2-3

Triahead- Kathmandu

to the intersection of the Langtandg valley and Gosainkunda trials.Turning to left hand trial leads you to Bharku(1860m).From here, there

is a fairly new trial which climbs over the ridge to Syabru(2130m), situated on a spur a few 100 metres below the pass. The another longer

trial heads to north alongside the Trisuli River to syabru Bensi(1462m), situated at the confluence of the Trisuli, Bhote Koshi and

Langtang rivers and continue through sherpa gaon(2581m)

Day  02  Syabru to Sing Gompa (3350m) –
Trial head towards the right of the spur and travel in a southerly direction.Stay high and cross the ridge into the Trisuli Khola Valley.

Nearly one hour's  walk from the ridge, you can be at the Sing Gompa and Chandanbari where there is a small cheese factory.

Day  03 Sing Gompa to Gosainkunda (4380m) –
The trial continues upwards through forest. There are no villages, only a few shepherds' huts. There are magnificient views of Himal

Chuli(6893m) and Manaslu (8156m) to the west and Langtang Lirung to the north. The way tends to follow the ridge and descends to the first

lake, the small Saraswotikund at 4100m.A few metres ahead is Bhairawakund with Gosainkund just beyond. Gosainkund was formed, according

to legend, by Shiva thrusting his trident into the rock to create three springs. It attracts many people to celebrate Janai Purnima, the

full moon festival falls in July/August.People used to come to bathe in the lakes of holy water.

Day  04  Gosainkund to Ghopte(3566m) –
Trial head towards Helambu region. The way climbs through rugged country, passing a few more small lakes before ascending quite steeply to

cross Lauribina pass(4610m).Magnificient views of the mountain can be explored from this point.Therafter, descend along a stream and

ascend a forested ridge.Ghopte has a cave shelter.

Day  05  Ghopte to Tharepati and Tarke Ghayang-
From the ridge you descend towards the valley, mostly through forest and passing the occasional sherpherd's hut. After crossing a stream

at 3310m, trial goes to Tharepati pass( 3597m) and continue walk lead to the ridge through Kutumsang, Gul Bhyanjyang and Pati Bhanjyang

to Burlang Bhanjyang & down to Tarke Ghayang. The ridge walk  is tiring, as there are constant ups and downs and the path is indistinct in

Day  06  Tarke Ghayang to Kiul  -
The easiest way to take the path to Timbu and then follow the Melamchi Khola down to Kiul.Descend through rhododendron forest passing

several chortens and mani walls to Kakani(2058m) and Timbu where the countryside is more extensively cultivated. This also marks  the

boundary between Helambu Sherpa country to the north and the Newar and Chhetri Hindu dominated to the south. The trial then steeply

descend down to the village of Karkadanda to Kiul.

Day  07  Kiul to Pati Bhanjyang –
The area becomes ever more populated as the route goes through villages and settlements in rapid succession.Follow the river downstream

and cross by the suspension bridge towards Mahankal(1219m) which marks the end of a minor road that joins the Araniko highway some 30km

to the south.Continue south along this track which crosses the ghyalthum Khola and descends into  Talamarang(940m).The trial then passes

through terraced field over the ridge, then veer to the  west and descend gently towards Pati Bhyanjyang.

Day  08  Pati Bhanjyang- Sundarijal and to Kathmandu –
Follow the ridge as it climbs to Burlang Bhanjyang(2348m) then descends past  Chaubas(2233m) to Mulkharka(1768m).The superb views of

Kathmandu valley can be explored from this point. The forest of rhododendron, pine and oak around here are the source of much of
